LoFi Lowdown: Did we just Cook the Jets?

The Miami Dolphins claimed former Jets quarterback Brady Cook off waivers today. Cook was the only quarterback claimed across the NFL.

I’m starting to think the Dolphins have some sort of joke going on behind closed doors. Here we are again with another former Jets quarterback on Miami’s roster: Mike White in 2023, Zach Wilson in 2025, and now Brady Cook.

Cook, a 39-game starter over five years at Missouri, is the opposite in some ways of recent addition Kyle McCord. Cook is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound mobile dual-threat quarterback, while McCord is more of a pocket passer.

Cook ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds and recorded a 37-inch vertical. His athleticism is impressive on tape. He throws effectively off-platform, with a quick release and good short-area accuracy.

Like many young dual-threat quarterbacks, Cook needs to clean up his lower-body mechanics. He also has a tendency to stare down his primary target.

Cook was a two-time team captain in college. His football IQ, toughness, and leadership qualities give him a chance to develop into a long-term option for the Dolphins.

Here is where I usually end by saying, “Brady Cook, you are officially on LoFi’s watch list.” But this time, I’ll say something a little different.
