Dolphins Claim Rookie Running Back Kaytron Allen

The Miami Dolphins claimed running back Kaytron Allen off waivers from Washington on Friday, adding depth with De’Von Achane out for the season and Jaylen Wright questionable for Sunday against Cincinnati.

Allen, a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft, is listed at 5 feet 11 and 217 pounds. He finished his Penn State career with a school-record 4,180 rushing yards and 39 rushing touchdowns over four seasons.

The Dolphins saw him during the preseason, when he rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries against Miami. He had 12 carries for 41 yards in four regular-season games with Washington before being waived.

Allen joins a backfield led by Ollie Gordon II, with Miami’s injuries giving him a chance to earn playing time.

I liked Allen coming out of college, and I like what Jon-Eric Sullivan is doing here. Miami already picked up Justin Joly, Denver’s fifth-round selection. Now it adds another player from this year’s draft without giving up a pick. The Dolphins are in position to give these guys a real look. Allen has to earn his carries.
