Miami Dolphins linebacker Chop Robinson pressures the Minnesota Vikings quarterback.

Dolphins Head Coach Challenges Chop Robinson to Follow Up Strong Week

Robinson Arrives with Strong Outing Against Vikings

Last week the Miami Dolphins lost to the Minnesota Vikings 10-15, but continued to show progress as a young team. One particular player had his best outing so far in 2026 in edge Chop Robinson. The third-year pass rusher took down Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray for a sack, his first of the season. Additionally, he was among the NFL leaders from Week 4 in pressures with 10. Robinson also had three total quarterback hits and two solo tackles.

The performance was much needed for him, as he started the season rather slow against the Las Vegas Raiders. He then missed Week 2’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers while in concussion protocol.

Week 3 Showed Signs of Progress

He displayed some sparks of production Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs with near a few near sacks and pressures including a hit on quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Although flagged for roughing the passer, one of the season’s biggest controversial calls thus far, Robinson showed he was on the cusp of breaking through.

Heading into Week 5 and a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Head coach Jeff Hafley laid down a clear challenge for Robinson to follow up his strong game.

Praise and a Challenge from Head Coach Jeff Hafley

Hafley said on Wednesday, “I wasn’t surprised he played well because of the way he practiced. Now, can he do it again? Like that’s the challenge. Can he go out and practice that way to give him a chance to play the same way he did? Because if he doesn’t, he won’t, right?”

He continued, “So now it’s time to put the pressure – I got it, congrats. You had your 10 pressures and your sack, I love it. But can you do it again? Because if you don’t, then it doesn’t matter.”

Hafley then complimented Robinson saying, “I love this guy’s attitude. I love the way he practices. I love the way he works. He is totally bought in and I’m excited for the guy.”

Robinson also spoke with media and talked about the confidence his coach has shown in him. He told reporters Wednesday, “I mean just once he first came in, I could just tell he had my back through anything. We talked about everything in the past few seasons, what I got to work on, the player that I could be and stuff like that.”

He added, “He gave me things I need to work on and he just always had my back. So whether it’s good, bad game, I know he’s there behind me regardless.”

Miami and Robinson will face a Bengals team that is tied for 18th in the league in sacks allowed with nine. He also has a half sack against them in his one career matchup from last season. The Dolphins will look for their first win, while the Bengals are currently 2-2.
